Yb:YAG薄ディスク増幅器をもちいた高平均出力レーザーの開発を行っている。現在までに再生増幅器によりエネルギー10mJ、パルス幅約1ピコ秒のパルスが1kHz繰り返しで出力されている。また、マルチパス増幅器を用いたエネルギー100mJまでの高出力化も現在進行中である。このピコ秒パルスは高強度テラヘルツ光発生や光学薄膜の損傷試験などの応用研究に実用されている。講演ではレーザーシステムの詳細と応用研究成果について発表する。

J-KAREN is a state-of-the-art high-power laser with hybrid OPCPA / Ti:Sapphire, double CPA architecture. Due to high temporal and spatial beam quality, the on-target intensity exceeds 
W/cm
with an 
focusing. The temporal contrast is high enough for shooting 
foils without plasma mirrors. These allowed us to demonstrate proton acceleration up to energies exceeding 40 MeV and Al ion acceleration up to 320 MeV (12 MeV/nucleon). We present the current laser performance, recent experimental achievements, and the upgrade plan to achieve the on-target peak power of 1 PW and repetition rate of 0.1 Hz.

We have discovered a new regime of high-order harmonic generation in gas jet targets driven by multi-TW femtosecond lasers. In this presentation, we discuss the results of recent experiments demonstrating bright off-axis (
) XUV harmonic emission. High-resolution harmonic source imaging reveals that the radiation is emitted by tiny sub-
m sources, in accordance with the model prediction.
